I have used the Hennessy Expedition hammock many times while backpacking. I've never slept so well as when I'm in the HH. As for touring, if I knew I would *always* be able to find a couple trees 10-20 feet apart I would never sleep on the ground again.

I like the size, weight, and being off the ground.
I can't seem to get comfortable, maybe due to a phobia.
I also ended up having to put my clothes line into use because I couldn't find trees close enough together.

I used to use a military surplus jungle hammock, and while it was heavier than most commercial ones, it was $40 or so in excellent condition with extra line, patches, etc.

Loved it dearly. It disappeared from a storage unit, so now I just use a 3-season lightweight tent until I buy a bivy or new hammock.

I have not tried the hammock´s you mension, but during a trip from Singapore to China last year I picked up a cheep Siam Hammock:

Can be used as a tent, rainshelter or as a mosquito net in bungalows etc.
Think it has many advantages to tents in hot and humid conditions. Cooler and easier to avoid snakes and ants that had invaded my MHW Trinity tent on the trip a year before.
It also seem to be more acceptable among recidents in warm climate countries that one make camp with a hammonck, than a more "permanent" looking tent.

But for colder climate I prefere nordic style tents like my Hilleberg Nallo and Akto:

Easier to stay dry and warm. In colder climate it is also usualy easier to find a solitude place to camp.

Wow, I want both a Siam hammock and a hilleberg! I'll write the Siam hammock folks today.
