.Posted this in the womens section but no advice. Maybe there is someone here that can help me!!
On a recent ride I slipped from my cleats and hit the cross bar of the bike. Within approx 5 minutes I had a large swelling come up on the soft tissue area of my girlie bits. Have used ice and anti inflammtarys to help it clear. Now 10 days later most of the bruising and swelling has gone, but, I find that I have still got a swelling about the size, maybe a bit smaller than a golf ball. This is in the soft tissue area below my pubic bone and towards the front and side. When riding, if I am in any other position than with my hands on the top of the bars it causes great pain & discomfort, i.e when I lean forward and put pressure on it. Has anyone else suffered the same fate or got advice on how long this swelling may take to go away. I am on a 150km ride in 8 days and it is going to be a fairly tough course so hoping to get it cleared up well before then. Any help greatly appreciated. ![]() |

I hope you went to the Docs,you may have some kind of bruising to the bone??? The bad thing is,if you stop training to let it recover more,u will find the 150km ride alot tougher than it already is.Good luck...

Do consult a doctor and while waiting, arnica, arnica, arnica, the little homeopathic pills and cream... It can't hurt and may help quite a bit.

I would also think about a different type of cleats. If you reinjure the site of inflammation, it will be worse than the first injury.

To add to the previous message about getting replacement, or a different type of cleats (which would require new pedals), your pedals may also be worn, in which case new cleats may or may not help.

Have found out it is a burst burser, which will go away in it's own good time, nothing to do but wait, least no pain.
Did The ride and survived. Had a great time hill climbing and then flyiing down the other side. Now have a new pair of cleats so hopefully no repeats of the above. |

If you use look cleates buy some protectors that you slip over the top to walk in. They grip better when walking and prevent the cleate fom wearing down.
