Hi!
The Fox Alp 5 shock on my Klein Mantra Race -98 has a crack at the top eyelet. I would like to replace it with a Cane Creek AD-5 that came off a Kona U´hu -99 (http://www.canecreek.com/site/produ...cks/04_ad5.html). Now, the problem is that the list of compatible shocks on Cane Creek website list the AD-5 as NOT compatible to the Mantra Race -97/-98( see AD-12 at: http://www.canecreek.com/site/produ...nt/fitment.html). It will how ever fit the Pro model. How come? On their site Cane Creek says their shocks are all tuned for a specific bike frame. I have read in some forum that riders have disassembled their AD-5, change the seals and adjusted the internal valves on the shock to work better with their frame. Is there some chance that I could do the same? Maybe I just switch shock and see how it goes, or could I damage the shock/frame? I have sent these questions to Cane Creek to, but I would like to hear your opinion (Lets leave the discussion of pros and cons of URT/Sweet Spot for now ) !
