I'm looking for new bike. I saw Gitane Mach 2200 and not sure what is the quality of this bike. The price is very atractive $ 2800 AU. Could someone tell me any think about this bike please.

I have a Gitane Mach 1800, last year's model, and am very happy with it. The 2200 has better gear on it and this year's models have different paintwork. That is the only problem with my 1800, the paint seems to chip really easily, but being black is easy to touch up. |

We sell the mach 2200 at our shop..
It's a really nice bike.. great ride for the price and really well speced.. nice frame also.. rear carbon stays. We're also selling it for that price in $AU. Last years Mach 1800 had a really strange handle bar and stem setup. for any given size frame the reach on the handlbars was very lengthy.. Gitane rectified this problem in this years models. |

That's true, I've just changed the stem (shorter and raised slightly) and handle bars (better shape on the drops) on my 1800 and it is ten times more comfortable. I have a 60cm frame. The bike is great to ride and is very responsive in sprints. The black coloring is pretty slick and draws a lot of favourable comments. My only problem is the paint seems to chip pretty easily. But being black is easy to patch up. |

I also have a 06 Mach 1800. I agree that the stock stem/handlebars feel weird, I put on a new FSA combo I got on Ebay for $50!!! and it feels magic. It is also true the paint sux bad, but I guess its ultralight...right!! I'm thinking of getting the paint stripper on to it and give it a couple of coats of clear
My LBS said the 07 Mach 1800 frame is not as good as the older Kinesis frame. Compare the welds on the 06 vs 07. The 07 Mach 1800 looks cheap. Apart from being the older model 105 group set, I prefer the slicker 06 model. wayno |
