Default Trek Y 26?

Hello Chums,
I have a Felt Road Bike, which I love...the problem is, I have some Mates that go Offroad and I'd like to go with them from time to time...we do have some nice Trails here in SoCal...

I have been searching for an inexpensive Mountain Bike and came across the Trek Y 26.

It does look mighty heavy, but apart from that, it looks like a nice Bike, for the price...around $400.

Has anyone experienced one of these? My Wife has a 2003 Giant Boulder, she loves it...she has those dual purpose, road/trail Tires, the ones that are smoothe in the centers...

Any help will be greatly appreciated, I know you're a very helpfull Bunch...
