I am doing the upgrade from 8 to 9 speed on my bike, and I pretty much have all the components, except for the crankset and the shifters that UPS will get here by Monday or Tuesday.
I will be replacing the cassette, crakset, chain, shifters, swapping pedals, and re-doing all the brake and shifter wires. What tools will I need to do this? I already have the basic allens, vice grips, channel locks, wrenches, etc. but no bike tools. Thanks in advance! |

I agree with OP + most likely need a chain cutting tool too. The Park Tool site diagram that you should click on for details is at URL: http://www.parktool.com/repair_help/FAQindex.shtml Scroll down to the bicycle on the work stand. Click on the portion you will work on and read the instructions. The diagrams are great too. Sheldon Brown's site has great information on these topics at URLS: http://sheldonbrown.com/derailer-adjustment.html http://sheldonbrown.com/cables.html I have good results cutting cable housings with Dremel tool and cut-off wheel.
