"Armstrong says he's far from done"
From the Associated Press wire: "WASHINGTON -- Five-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong said he will compete in two more tours before retiring from the race 2006. Armstrong said he expects to race in the 2004 and 2005 tours but has not made plans for what to do after he retires. "I know that I'm here today and I'm alive today and I've been blessed to have this life and this sport, and I want to win the 2004 Tour de France," Armstrong said. Armstrong, a testicular cancer survivor who overcame the disease and won five consecutive tours beginning in 1999, spoke Wednesday at the National Press Club to unveil a new drive to increase funding for cancer research".

I would be very happy to see him in two more TdFs!
But I guess this is not 100% certain at this point of time. I could imagine that his announcement was also triggered by the fact the the sponsorship by US Postal is up after 2004. With Lance's intention to continue racing beyond 04 it will of course be much easier to find a new sponsor, or even get US Postal to extent sponsorship. The announcement of course also releases pressure as he now has two shots at making No. 6. |
