Has anyone got any experience with rqcing while still suffering alittle from an upper respiratory tract infection (Viral sore throat with no other symptoms)
I have an important race on Sunday and am I think just beginning to get through the infection. Doc has warned against it due to risk of Viral Myocarditis ? Any help appreciated Peter |

Unless you like the risk of dying, or other serious problems then i'd go with your doc's advice. see: http://cyclecoach.com/articles?article=Illness&ext=.htm Ric

Thanks Ric - I had read the article from a previous post. My logic was that as I have no other cold like symptoms, that if I am nearly over the sore throat then I would be ok to go...
I then have a 3 week break over Christmas. If the throat is still bad on saturday I will call it off. |

i normally suggest ~ 14-days easy riding after an illness has completely subsided before increasing the intensity. I think if you've found a doc that suggests myocarditis, i'd a) listen to them, and b) be thankful you have such a doctor.
I had to present such data and studies to my previous doc... Ric
