Hi, I'm looking for a new bike. I want a bike that I can do trails, jumps and drops with. I don't plan on doing any jumps or drops over 4 feet, but I want it to hold up, and leave room for me to progress. I've looked at both HTs and full suspension bikes. I would rather have full suspension though. I am 13 years old and am around 5'9" tall and 150 pounds and I am probably not done growing. I can't spend more than $700. So far this is what I have in mind:
2004 Raleigh Ram 2.0 2004 Gt i-drive 3.0 2004 Kona Blast 2004 Haro escape 8.1 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kevin |

I ride a GT Avelanche and fully agree with Zach. You cant break them! (touches wood) They did go bankrupt not that long ago though and I'd heard that the quality had dropped off a little

GT's quality seems to have dropped off precipitously as of late and they are no longer honoring frame gaurantess. LBS and long time GT dealer stopped doing buisness with them on account of this and id advise you to do the same.

My LBS wanted $660 for the 8.1, $850 for the 8.2, and $1350 for the 8.3.

It turns out i didnt get any of those bikes, one of the lbs's had 2002 trek bruiser one for 340 bucks so i put it on layaway. does anybody know anything about it good or bad. it doesnt have any suspension but i liked that because i could pick out my own fork later. It had an alivio rear derailer which shifts kinda slow and rough so it might need to be replaced and a chain guide up front and truvative firex cranks. Thanks, Kevin

yeah, i wouldn't expect much performance from an alivio derailleur, but derailleurs are pretty cheap. http://www.performancebike.com has a pretty good selection of low-priced derailleurs. go here: Performancebike.com derailleur page |
