Help!!! The bottom bracket on my Schwinn got wicked sticky on a little ride yesterday. The crank is sooo hard to turn it's ridiculous. But when not pedalling I have a 1/16th of a crank turn that is loose. Once I go past 1/16 it binds up. Also pedalling backwards is less rough than forward. Any ideas?

It sounds like th BB lost it's bearings or they are very bad shape. It depends on the type, but servicing it will tell you the story. Plan on replacement by making the shell and axle length measurements.
