Question Having problems with my 9 month old Claud Butler, Gears slipping

Hi there,

I am very new to cycling i bought a bike to go to work on every day, normal road usage nothing special yet! I am having trouble with my gears. They just slip staying in the same gear but sometimes causiig my feet slip off the pedals. This seems to happen more often when applying more pressure to the pedals while going up hill.

The Derailer says Shimano SIS MegaRange.

If anyone could give me some advice I would be grateful.

lo there,

if you have not changed ur chain since u got the bike it could be that ur chain, rear cassette and possibly ur front rings are worn, hence the slipping as things are not engaging properly.
you could try starting by changing ur chain, if it still slips then ur rear cassette, and if it still slips ur chainrings
dependant on who u talk to u should change ur chain every 3-6 months, and this should save ur rear cassette etc.
If u have a friendly LBS, pop down there and see what they say, as I could be wrong. but I had a similar problem with my commuting bike, and learnt the pricey way to keep changing my chain.

Cheers
Steve
