Default Power Meters - Tacx?

Following my recent ride on my friends bike (the one who has a SRM), I have decided to invest, but not quiet to the same degree! It appears, from reading, that Tacx's latest offering - the 'Flow' - that you are able to calibrate this, hence the reading seems like it could prove accurate.

Does anyone have experience of this turbo trainer? I can't see myself affording a SRM or PowerTap in the near future.

thanks.

tomUK:

Tacx makes decent stuff, but it's still a turbo so you won't be able to get watts on the road or in a race.

They are probably fairly accurate, but many people have reported somewhat large discrepancies with many electronic braking devices (regardless of manufacturer) when measured against actual PT/SRM data.

SRM's are very expensive, but PT's are not quite as bad. In the U.S. the Tacx is roughly half the price of a PT Pro. If measuring your output is critical to you I would say avoid the Tacx. On the other hand if it's only a casual/moderate interest, the Tacx is probably the best solution.

Good luck!!!
