Default Wind trainer vrs exercise bike?

G, day I do not have a wind trainer as yet i.e. im thinking of
Maybe buying a stationary exercise bike so the whole family can Use.

My question is this does an exercise bike perform as well as a wind trainer i.e. technique form etc, thanks

Most exercise bikes that I've seen don't come anywhere near the kind of setup you'll get with a wind trainer, and IMHO they are a waste of time for a real cyclist.

You are very strong in your opinion that an exercise bikes have
No real use for a (real cyclist) why is that?

With most exercise bikes you'll struggle to duplicate the position that you have on your bike, the saddles are usually too big and you'll have to swop over your pedals so that you can use your cycling shoes. There are obviously exceptions to this but they are mostly quite expensive.

you could consider one of the many spinning bikes available on the market the ones by schwin and Lemond are well suited to cyclists, with proper saddles and pedals,

Many brands of trainer can be used by the entire family by exchanging your bike for theirs, and you all get that custom fit. Chances are pretty good that the cyclists in the family are the only ones going to be using a trainer anyway since they are BORING. Ride ooutside, tqake up skiing in the winter, go for a run, ride a mountain bike....I'll do anything to avoid my trainer (even go shopping with my wife....)

I hate the feel of exercise bikes and spin bikes, to me they never feel like cycling, also as has been pointed out the seating position on most exercise bikes is awful because they were designed by marketing types not cyclists

In contrat i've been using a cyclops turbo trainer and its much nicer with a really nice feel and the bonus of exactly the same riding position
