I wrote a letter to the editor of my local newspaper
(Gloucester County (NJ) Times) and they printed it today! They even included a cute bicycle road sign in the letter. I said that I have been basically carefree for 43 yrs, that I use my bike to go shopping, doctor trips, etc and use mass transit when a bike is not practical. I said that my grandmother did the same for the 45 yrs she lived in this suburb (I recently moved here after being given her house). I touched upon the benefits of utility cycling, such as no gas bills, insurance bills, worries of where to park when in the big city, reduced obesity problems, reduced dependence of foreign oil, etc
