Hi,
I'm addicted to cyclin'. I love it when I see other people suffer behind me in the wheel. Unfortunately I'm allergic to a variety of things: cats, dust, trees, grass etc... I don't have a lot of trouble with it, only my nose itches a little bit and sometimes I have to sneeze. Could i t be that it has an effect on my condition, that is not visible at the first view? Because I'm not getting into the right shape and the good form does not come for more than 10 months now... I ride and I'm not gaining any power or endurance I'm 22 years old. Want some more information? than mail me or reply this. I hope there is someone who can help me.... |

No improvements? What kind of training do you do?
Have you tried anti-histamines?

I train 2/3 times a week: 60-75 % of my MHR (208) Sometimes I train more intensive, one hour at 80/90% My HR in rest was 1.5 years ago +/- 40-45 and now i cant get it under 50-55 I used to ride at 30 km/h average now it is only 23/24 km/h @+/-145bpm I tried anti-histamines but I didnt see any improvement. Usualy, decreases in form are caused by too much training or too little. Are you doing less training than you were or did you have quite a high standard of fitness? If you have been doing this level of training for a while you may have just platauxed (i.e. you have stopped improving) and need to do some different training or a higher volume to improve again. I think you may have been doing the same training for too long or too little training. Don't worry about the heart rate, it doesn't really imply anything about performance or health (when within a normal range). You should see a doctor to find a way of managing your allergy.

Allergies by their very nature affect your immune system, so yes, they could be part of your problem. From your description of the symptoms though, I doubt that its is really causing you any more trouble then a cold would. I suggest that you look at where you are at and how you got there, then talk to someone, perhaps a trainer, that can help take you the next step. -Jim- Last edited by 2LAP : 19-09.-2003 at 05:08 PM. |
