I am looking into a full suspension bike in the $1000.00 and under catagory. Looking for a Jack of All Trades bike and had been considering the following three: Giant Warp DS 1, Ibex Apogee Sport LX or GT I Drive 2. Anybody have any thoughts? I have heard the components won't be the greatest but could upgrade down the road.

If you're serious spend a bit more and save yourself some heart-ache down the road. If you're in a hurry get a cheapy aroung 500 dollars and save for something good while you ride the cheapy into the ground

Thanks for responding. If I stay closer to the $1000.00 range($1000-1500) what would you recomend? I am not in a big hurry to buy another bike. I've had my GT Timberline since 96. I recently started looking into reviews on the earlier mentioned bikes and figured I would test ride what I could.

In general I prefer to get the best frame I can. Full suspension seems to have slowed down in its evolution which is a good thing for us, not every year is the design absolete. I personaly like Jamis a lot. I've had several. I like them so much I can't decide right now between buying a Komodo frame or a Santa Cruz Chameleon frame. The SC has a little more ooh ahh but I've always been happy with Jamis even if they are not the most exciting. I digressed. Yes, spend your money on the frame. Do your homework you can often get a top of the line(or near top of the line ) frame with LX components. An example is the KHS Rage has the same frame but the rest is different and it's probably in your range. Its a good trail bike. Jamis Dakar series look into the sport and expert. I have not met to many people who like their GT i drives. |
