A classic stage, looking forward to this one. I prefer the climb to Hautacam to Alpe d'Huez

Stage profile:
![]() The last 15 km have gradients between 5 and 10%. ![]() For those with Eurosport coverage, if you're on holiday or able to shuffle your work time, you should be able to catch most of the race, as the coverage starts at 12:45 hrs. |

Everybody, look for my sister. She is going to be on Hautacam. I told her to wave.

Tell her to flash or streak. It'll be easier for us to tell her apart. |

So, should we consider Piepoli a possible winner?

The ease at which Ricco took control today, if Pieploi goes, I think Ricco stays with the peleton. That way if Piepoli falters, Ricco can launch on the Hautacam. Ricco cannot be let go again. He will have to be marked, I'm not sure who has the courage for that. Team Columbia looked like they took the day off, I hope that was planned rest for Tourmalet and Hautacam. All of Italy must be excited, Ricco looks like the future. He and Contador will have some classic battles in the future. Evans and Valverde will not sleep well tonight thinking about the "cobra". |

so which Frenchman is going to try and win this one?
I would have picked Moncoutie but he didn't look good today. So DiGregorio or Dessel. |

No Frenchie will win this stage. They might be in an escape, but there won't be a single one left at 10km to go. Evans' fall means Cd'E will attack, and so will everyone else. S. Sanchez, Pereiro, Ricco are all riding superbly. At least two of those will go hard. I'd expect Valverde to ride defensively and follow wheels until Evans cracks - whether that's teammates or Ricco is another matter. If Evans cracks, that's when Piti will go for it. Sastre must attack, so he will. I think Piepoli will attack at the foot of the Hautacam. Ricco will keep something in store to go again, if he can. I think this stage will be carnage. If Evans and Valverde were riding strongly, it wouldn't be so bad, but the fall means that now is the time to attack Evans.

This stage looks to be very interesting. I won't be surprised to see any of the contenders fall apart. They all seem somewhat shaky.
I hope Ricco puts the irons to everyone.
