Default Cycling Asthmatics?
So if I understand this correctly, none of the 10 MPCC teams TdF riders have asthma? How can that be given that every other pro rider apparently needs his inhaler to finish a race?

huh? the only possibly related bit I see on that page was that the 10 MPCC teams have no riders who have "oral or injectable use of corticoids" in the last 15 days ... generally speaking you wouldn't be using oral or injectable cortisone for asthma but inhaled which is a different category according to WADA. (if you need oral or injectable cortisone for asthma, then your asthma is at a level to be too severe to worry about riding the Tour anyway...)

CFF, I think what Wayne is referring is how riders use asthma as an excuse to do you know what...

Yes, I assumed "oral" included the use of inhalers but perhaps not.

If not, I don't see what the big deal is. We all know the standard trick, unless there are a rash of Gaumont wantabees out there rubbing their nut sack raw with sandpaper to cover up the "corticoid" use, asthma is the common excuse.

oh, I knew you were alluding to the possibility of asthma as an excuse - I was just confused how you made the connection. I work in a health care field, so sometimes I forget that the differentiations that are obvious to me (oral vs. inhaled) aren't as well-known or obvious to others ... sorry about that .

Which particularly applies to reporters with no knowledge of healthcare terms and terms can easily be mixed or their significance isn't realized when translating from one language to another.

Like I said, unless they are talking about your standard "corticoids" for asthma I don't get what the big deal is here?

The prevalence of asthma in the general population is around 7%. I seem to remember there was an article saying 70% of pro cyclists had a TUE for bronchodilators for their "asthma". So a group of elite athletes has a 10x greater prevalence of a serious medical condition, which would indicate asthma is of great benefit for an athletic career.

Look, you guys can feign concern about the riders health all you want, but I am still quite worried about their vaginas. It sounds to me that there is a LONG list of riders with vagina problems, and that is no laughing matter.
