Default Freehub stripped thread - 105 Shimano

Strange experience - noticed that the rear wheel wasn't turning as freely as
usual. An hour later the skewer snapped and the axle wouldn't turn at all.

When pulling it apart I found that the aluminum thread that the hollow steel hex
bolt screws into had stripped.
It would appear that this caused the axle to rotate with the body, wind the cone
tight (and break the skewer).

Is this a common problem?

Mike
