stem raiser
I am looking for a stem raiser for an older road bike with a threaded
headset. Not sure what to measure to get it the right size (inside or outside dimensions etc). Here is a link to what I am looking at. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/stems/index.html Does someone have a used one? I got a cheap used road bike and fits great except I need to raise handlebars more than it allows. Thanks |

Goes where you quill stem goes now, with the ability to clamp a threadless stem onto it. Like part SM 248 on the Sheldon site. 22.2mm quill(thing that goes into the fork), ability to clamp any 1 1/8inch threadless stem onto it. Last thing is to make sure the handblebar clamp of the stem matches the handlebar diameter. |

No, the OP is talking about a stem raiser - a threaded to threaded
quill extender. It is very likely a 1" standard. One inch is the _outside_ diameter of the steering tube. The inside diameter is (IIRC) 22.2 mm, and would be the thickness of the stem. Measure you current stem with a calipers, or use a paper tape, measure, and divide by pi. If it's around 22mm's order the 1" standard. JG |

I know I know--a link was already given, here's another with an option to buy: http://www.sbrsports.com/1011/513-471915?c=usd But for a quill, it's such an inelegant solution compared to a taller stem. With a threadless, often the Delta bugger is the only solution-- and it's not half bad at all. |
