Hey All,
I plan on being in Cape Cod for a long weekend with a cottage in Eastham. I'm looking for a few 2-3 hours rides that avoid busy highways. The tourist sites note many converted rail paths but these are limited to 10mph. I don't want to scare families with kids at 20mph. Ideally I'd like to avoid doubling back on the same route. It would be nice to ride Atlantic one way and return on Bay side. Any suggested rides would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nada.
We are going to Cape Cod in August and I am wondering if I should bring my bike.

http://www.nycc.org/mb/thread.aspx?...6&tp=1#msg60467 I was only in the Outer Cape (Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown). Parts of Route 6 are strip-mall ugly with narrow shoulders. Otherwise it's very bike friendly. If you want to ride hard, I suggest riding early. Enjoy.

+1 on Cape Cod biking. I was there a few years ago and cruised around the Eastham/Wellfleet area on a rental mountain bike. During the weekdays, traffic was light on the bayside roads. The bike path was enjoyable too: shady and low-traffic. |

Get the Cape Cod map here for suggestions.
Route 6 can be a mess, especially on weekends. Doubly especially on holiday weekends. The same goes for the bike path. You may get plenty of "eye ball exercise" looking at pretty women in skimpy clothing (not that that's a bad thing ) but it's pretty crowded on weekends.Sorry for the late reply. |
