Go to any cycling shop (by which I obviously exclude Halfrauds). They should have at least the local area guides, and places like London Fields Cycles will usually have all of them. >Failing that if anyone can suggest some other way for me to plan my >routes..................... If you prefer to go fast on roads: http://www.multimap.com/ and ask for a "walking" route (that'll ignore one-way streets but keep you off motorways). If you prefer to go slowly on cycle-paths: http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/ Roger -- A bicycle is the long-sought means of transportation for all of us who have runaway hearts. -- Lance Armstrong |

I've usually found TfL response a lot faster than four weeks - perhaps
there is a particular map that is out of print and they are awaiting fresh stocks. In the past I have successfully asked for a bike map at a local manned tube station (it may work). As Bike week approaches, I would have thought that TfL will be attending green fairs (they usually put in an appearance at Kingston - I didn't make it this year) - and they were certainly at the Camden Fair in Regent's Park last weekend furiously trying to hand out maps. The site for the Hammersmith Greenfest http://www.greenfest.org.uk/ on 15th June says "TfL will be bringing their Sustainable Travel Roadshow. Also find out about car-share and other greener ways of getting around, including walking." I'd bet they bring some maps with them ! |

Look at how >wiggly they are ! http://www.camcycle.org.uk/map/location/13479/ is a fairly good illustration of that too. Newmarket by road 6 miles in one direction, by NCN route 15 miles in the opposite direction. |

There's a new edition about to come out, supposedly, which reminds me, I must tell TfL where the boroughs of Barnet and Harrow actually are. The deadline fast approaches. Given that cycling matters are generally uncertain since the election, it might not be a bad idea to get copies of whatever maps you want as soon as possible. Besides bike shops, libraries might be a good place to look, and also the TfL/London Transport information kiosks found at some main line train terminals. Jeremy Parker |

Well, I filled in the form at https://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/roaduser...tes/default.asp on Tuesday evening (3rd June) and received mine this morning (11 June) Not 4 weeks... and they're not out of stock of any of them, because I asked for one of each, and two for both Central London and my own local area - and they're all here. |
