Has anybody else had this embarrassing problem? Took off the rear wheel for the first time from my used Mongoose. I needed to pry up the tire so that I could straighten out the valve stem, which has been angled in such a way that I can't inflate it. Now no matter what the hell I do, I can't seem to find the right fit for the rear wheel back into its seat. What have you done when confronted with a situation like this? |

That, as well as the fender and the rack and the derailleur. Despite popping the straddle cable off the cantilever brake, I usually put the tire on while half inflated. |

A quick check with a caliper and ruler could tell you the relative widths. If that is the problem, either ten minutes with a 2x4 or $15 at the bike shop should be able to coldset(widen) your frame (assuming it's steel). http://www.sheldonbrown.com/frame-spacing.html -- Dane Buson - sigdane@unixbigots.org "The key is to commit crimes so confusing that police feel too stupid to even write a crime report about them." -Aubrey, 'Something Positive' |
