Evening all,
I had a bit of an exploding bike incident a little while ago, in which my rear mech became detached from my frame by virtue of the hanger breaking. I've replaced the hanger and reattached the mech, but all is still not well. The problem is that the chain is slack. I can just about make the wheel go round by pedalling, but there's chain hanging about all over the place and it's not very good. It seems that the cage is not pulling the chain tight as it should - in fact, it doesn't seem to be pulling at all. Does this mean a spring has gone somewhere? Is it possible i reattached the mech wrong? Any ideas? tom -- They didn't have any answers - they just wanted weed and entitlement. |

Any better? |

My mech - a SRAM SX5 or 5.0 or something - rotates freely around the mounting bolt, so it seems any kind of twisting is futile. The chap in the LBS thinks it is indeed broken, so i'm going to get a new one. Oh well. tom -- Gotta treat 'em mean to make 'em scream. |
