Default Millar Stage 5 Meltdown Video

Pulls a Riis circa 97. Can't say I blame him.

Bummer, I don't blame him either. As a consolation , he gets 1st place
in the Giro bike-toss.

I dunno, it was all shoulder, he never really got his hips and legs into
it. If he had gotten some drive out of his legs, and really worked it I
would be more impressed. Or maybe whirled around and slung it like a
hammer toss. It's sort of like that video where the woman ran into her
teammate who had fallen in front of her during the sprint. She hadn't
practiced bunny-hopping teammates while sprinting so she ended up with a
broken collarbone. Similarly, for Millar, just a few extra minutes a day
practicing the bike toss, and he would look like the complete pro. Because
he went first, others are going to know what they have to do to beat him
for the bike toss jersey (What color is that in the Giro? I forget.), so
you can bet the parking lots behind the team hotels tonight will resonate
with the sound of bicycles hitting pavement (along with dumpster lids being
quietly closed on blue coolers containing ice vests). I doubt he'll even
podium with that effort.

Quick, who's going to do the "I WENT TO THE GIRO, AND ALL I GOT WAS
MILLAR'S BROKEN BIKE" T-Shirts?

Best Giro souvenir ever,

What a FRED.

Never catch ol Joop Zoetemelk doing something like that back in the '70s.

He's wearing cleats. Falling on his ass in the midst of a toss
wouldn't impress the judges.

That's because the bikes weighed too much to throw.

Micro$oft have taken over marketing the LIVEDRUNK jersey.

Don't be too sure. Ricco is still in the race and there is a long way
to go.

These are pros. They're supposed to take risks, push the boundaries. If
two Spanish guys can do a round of a MMA bout in mid-stage of a grand tour
while wearing cleats, we ought to expect better solo efforts in bike
slinging. S'all I'm saying.

It's nothing more than I deserve.

And because Joop famously had zero upper-body strength.

Ricco has done an excellent job of making sure the sponsor logos are
visible as he throws the bike.

More like the bikes back then were not these plastic 'throw away'
frames that they ride nowadays.
