Wink 61 days to go for the 94.7 in Johannesburg, South Africa

With a shock I realised that it is only 61 days before Jo'burgs toughest race, and I am unfit, 7kg overweight, and no time to train during the week. Any GOOD ideas on how to get fit and slim quick?

Steroids? "Help-my-trap" bicycle?

Just kidding. I'm in the same predicament. I'm lots overweight, not very fit (yet) and stressed out over the 94.7

I have decided to start riding (or at least try) to ride a min of twice in the week and on weekend long rides (which I have already started with).

I have also entered a few races before the 94.7 which I will use as training rides.

That and getting in a lot of supplements and staying away from Beer for a while (sniff).

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I've decided to start training in the mornings again @ 5 I will try and stay away from the beer, but it will be difficult with summer around the corner

Good idea to enter other races before the 94.7, I'm planning to do one this weekend in the Vaal.

Happy pedalling!

Then have a few beers on us Mampara.

A friend of mine also had knee operation, she could not train for a long time. She is back in the saddle and I hope enjoying it.

BTW, I hope your recovery will be speedy, nothing like getting back on a bike and not feel any pain.

Well, it's 52 days to go today. There are only 5 days left to enter but still plenty of entries available. Is the race loosing it's appeal?

I certainly don't hope so. This is one of my favourite races. I prefer it to the Argus.

I wonder if they update the manual entries on the site.

On SS they have an article and the organisers are very happy with the number of entries. If you go by the figures currently, it is down to last year, and I can't think that an organisor will be happy if he has less entries then the previous year.
