Announcement: Burlington Road Races
Due to the fact that a new bridge is being constructed it is not possible to have a finish at the usual location in downtown Burlington. Instead of canceling all races that day, Bike Burlington is organizing the Wapello Mediapolis Road Race as a point to point race on Highway 99 of approximately 24 miles. It was conceived to give novice racers the opportunity to road race within their skill level. The race begins in Wapello proceeding south on Highway 99 turning west on H38 into Mediapolis. The terrain is gently rolling on Highway 99. There is a five mile long climb out of the Mississippi River Valley on the Mediapolis blacktop (H38). This change will likely be for 2008 only baring any more road work. Events scheduled: 5:15 pm - Category 4 5:25 pm - Masters 50+ & Masters 60+ 5:35 pm - Women Category 4 5:45 pm -Category 5 & Citizens Transportation will be available before and after the race between Mediapolis & Wapello. A map is available here: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-pat...polis-road-race click on show, elevation profile, to see a coarse route elevation. Flyers & entry forms are available at http://www.memorialdayweekendbikeraces.com Other races that weekend are: Snake Alley Criterium (Burlington, Iowa) Melon City Criterium (Muscatine, Iowa) Quad Cities Criterium (Rock Island, Illinois) --- |
