I want to start commuting to work. 8 miles one way and I'm 60, 5"10" and 260#.
I really like the Trek 7700. Problem is I'm getting conflicting advice on size. One shop says 17.5" and the other 20". On the 17.5 the bar comes right up to the bone. Any advice on this bike and size would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Well, you're somewhere in that ballpark. I ride a Trek 7500FX, size 17.5. I'm about 5'8". I think I'm at the limit...standing height is at my crotch. There really SHOULD be a little clearnace. A guy at work rides the same model, size 20", but he's 6'. Rule of thumb: It's better to ride a bike that's a little small, than one that is too big. By what you say, I think I'd opt for the 17.5, but ride both of them, and see what YOU think.
BTW, I really like the bike! I'm age 51 and ride it to work every day. It's been very reliable. |
