Default PARIS-ROUBAIX on UCI calendar ...if...

if UCI accept it.
As a sight of good willing, ASO has accepted to put P-R on UCI calendar.
What will McQuaid do?

Quote:
In the growing conflict between the UCI ASO group for several months, the organizers of the Paris-Nice and Tour de France have decided to make a gesture of appeasement, and that the race accpeté be organized under the aegis of the international federation, unlike Paris-Nice last month, was organized by the FFC.

The French federation has sought to justify this decision, stating that it was time to take a step: "For the sake of appeasement in a high-conflict, the French Cycling Federation has asked ASO that the next edition of Paris-Roubaix be included in the calendar of the UCI, in the category of "monuments" of professional cycling on the road. ASO has agreed in principe.La FFC will contact the UCI tomorrow (Thursday) so that the necessary steps be carried out to this end. This initiative of the Federation is also making a positive response to the appeal for calm made by the President of the Italian Cycling Federation, Mr. Renato Di Rocco, simultaneously with the Presidents of the FFC and the UCI. " The timetable history, one of the solutions developed for finding a solution to the crisis, includes major rounds out the Tour de France (Giro, Vuelta), and the monuments of the organizers in dispute with the UCI (Milan-Sanremo, Liege-Bastogne - Liege, Tour of Lombardy).

When I saw your title, I thought McQuaid was gonna quit or something. Oh well - looks like that will have to wait...

So what does this basically mean? Would the UCI be able to say which teams will be allowed to race and which won't?

No. It just means that instead of maintaining the race outside of the UCI calendar (i.e., no "1.HC" class, etc.), they will put it on the calendar.

RCS has registered its races with the UCI (e.g., T-A, M-R, Giro) but invites who it wants.

The ASO had indicated that they did not want to "downgrade" their races from formerly Pro Tour status to the general UCI categories.

Ok, thanks. But what is the catch for UCI here?

Well, at the very least it implies acceptance of the way ASO are running their races (and invitations) if they are 'allowed' on the UCI calendar.

How strongly has UCI come out against RCS for their approach to invitations for the Giro?

But the Giro is not The Tour. I think that is a lot of it. RCS has nice races but ASO really has some of the best.

That may be, but my point is a different one... including the ASO or RCS races in the UCI calendar, when the organisers are ignoring ProTour rules for participating teams is a similar issue, I would think.
