Default Replacement Wheel / Rim Trek 520

The rim on the rear wheel of my Trek 520 exploded when I pumped up the wheel before going out for a ride recently .

I want to replace the rim but not the hub if that is possible.
The rim that exploded was a bontrager maverick.
What rim would people reccomend?

Cheers.

Default Re: Replacement Wheel / Rim Trek 520

That can happen when there is a lot of wear on the rim. You are lucky it didn't happen when you were on the way down a hill and braking..... It shouldn't be a problem to keep using the hub (though you may want to clean and repack it or have it cleaned and repacked if it's never been serviced). There's a ton of choices out there for rims and spokes, so I really don't have any specific suggestions other than check around your LBS scene and find out who has a good reputation for wheel building. They should be able to recommend a good rim for the way you use the bike.
