Default john o groats - lands end, NEED A NEW BIKE, RECOMENDATIONS?

hello there, i was wondering if anyone could help at all? i need a new bike for the john o groats to lands end trip. However i really dont know what type of bike i should go for! Problem! i figured that i would prefer a mountain bike as usually i dont really bike on road more of a country track, but i realise for this trip there will be a lot of road biking so maybe i need to be thinking possibly about hybrid bike? any help or advice would be welcome

cheers andy

A hybrid would work for you, or a mtb with road tires,
