Hi again,
I haven't posted or read any threads on rec.running in the past few months because I got tired of the trolls. But I wanted to post my progress so all of you that helped me in the beginning will know that I did not quit. In case you don't remember I lost over 240 pounds in the last couple of years and started running in December last year. My fist 5K race I ran in 29:58 last January. Here are my current bests: 5K - 23:52 4M - 32:32 10K - 50:59 10M - 1:25:07 I have my half marathon coming up on Dec 16 in Jacksonville and I am going to do a second on Jan 6. I did decide to run the Disney World marathon in Jan 2009. Thanks again for your help and encouragement when I needed it most. Darrin |

For general interest, was your approach only exercise or exercise and some daily change to eating habits. Are you finished losing weigth? We don't want to find that a stiff wind blew you off the marathon course. -Doug |

Congratulations on the weight loss and the running successes. Dot -- ...."the doctor told me I should do one of two tings. One, if I started to feel extreme muscle damage, I should slow down, or two, I should train harder to avoid muscle damge in the future. I chose number two." - Andy Jones-Wilkins (quoted in Trail Runner 49:12, Dec 2007) |

I lost the majority of my weight by changing my eating habits I did a little exercise, but the eating is what did it. Since I have started running I have lost about 35 more pounds while eating about the same, though I do eat more before, during, and after runs. |
