Default Buying new mtb help!

Hey guys, an easy one for most of you..
i have 1000-1500 to spend. Whats the most i can get for my money??. Bike will be used for forest tracks etc. little road use.

If anyone can help - thanks!!

Hit up all of your locally owned bike stores and test ride everything you can. Then make your decision on what feels best to you. For the price range you can get a very nice hardtail bike.

Dont bother with a store that wont let you test ride or try to sell you something just to get it off of their floor. That happened to me once I ride a 56cm road bike and the owner tried to sell me a 52cm.
