Smile Help please buying new MTB budget 1000-1500$

Hey there im starting to learn to mtb ride. I do bmx but am keen to start with some mtb-ing.
I have sussed out a couple of bikes and am keen for a little direction on them. I have sussed out a Giant Talon and a GT disc 1.0. However if you have any other brands or ideas that are good bikes please let me know! Im not sure if you can get Trek's or cannondale's for this sort of price bracket (1000-1500).
However if anyone could give me a bit of info it would be greatly appreciated!! The bike will be getting a work-out on some ruff terrain so strength will be needed in the frame!.
Thanks guys!! any help is greatly appreciated
