Default Trek 7100 for me? Or not...?

Hello

I'm looking to buy a new bike for commuting, I've been cycling for years but never had a 'proper' bike and think now is the time. My bikes before have been generic mountain bike death traps.

I'm thinkin about getting the Trek 7100 for commuting, the roads around here are a little sketchy, some pot holes some really smooth. What do people think? It's about £270/280...good? Or is there something better I could be spending my money on?

Also does anyone know of any decent bike shops in the Birmingham, UK aera? There seems to be a huge lack. Been to a few (Birmingham City Cycles, Fred Williams Etc...) but if they do stock hybrid bikes they'll have 1 or 2. I'm a little weary of buying a bike online and having it posted to me, just because I want to be sure a new bike is all set up Etc...and I'm not 100% sure what size frame I should have (I'm 5'11).

Thanks!!

Joe
