Default hello, new and looking for advice

this is the bike i currently own, and i want to upgrade it, right now i`m having problems with the shifting i generally leave it in second on the front of three sprockets and when i am shifting on the set of seven in the rear (lousy terminoligy i apoligise) but the shifting is not very smooth and i actually took a nasty spill the other nite because the seventh gear takes forever to shift, its always the sevent gear to.

also the cranks are making some really rough noises and feel very ...not right i`m sure they just need to be greased but i was thinking of upgrading the cranks the rear gears and the derailer.

one of the things i would like to concentrate on is the weight of this bike ound some carbon cranks on ebay for 179$ but that is pretty steep for me right now and i don`t know what is and is not quality product.

any suggestions on what i should upgrade to ?
