Hi guys, started looking for a bike to ride to / from uni.
Originally used my crappy old mountainbike, though i'd rather not go near that thing again. I don't really have a lot of money to spend (uni student ) so i was really just checking ebay and the tradingpost occasionally. Found two that interest me at the moment, and was wondering if anyone knew much about these bikes? Now that i think of it, i'm also 183cm tall, so i guess i'll have to take that into consideration too. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ![]() http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Repco-Road-B...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...:MEWA:IT&ih=019 edit: found another one that looks interesting... it's a flat bar too which would be nice http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Giant-CRX4-Flat-Bar-Road-Bike_W0QQitemZ130158684411QQihZ003QQcategoryZ7298QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrd Z1QQcmdZViewItem Last edited by wreck : 08-10.-2007 at 07:03 AM. |

I think a lot depends on your own taste in bikes, but a few things you might keep in mind are service and dependability, and how much weight you will carry. If you are going to be carrying panniers with books and maybe a laptop or other heavy gear, you should definitly consider strength of bearings and frame durability. Some bikes may get you there quicker, but may not hold up if you carry a lot of stuff. I bought a fairly cheap Marin hybrid years ago, carry a LOT of stuff, and have had over 5k miles of very trouble free riding. If you know a good bike mechanic, they can give you really good advice. Best wishes! |

thanks for the reply.
at the moment, i'm not 100% sure how often i'll be using it. i don't want to go and spend more than a few hundred and then have it collecting dust. hybrid's definately seem like a better option. there's a slight chance that i might start going on some rides with a few friends that are keen cycalists, so i figure either option will work for me. Anyone have any specific advice about these bikes? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by wreck : 08-10.-2007 at 11:34 AM. |
