Hey, I'm very new to the sport, and i'm looking for some tips and suggestions for improvement on the way I am riding.
Before i get into this, i'll let you know that i'm 15 years old, 6'3 and about 155 pounds. I'm the akward lanky guy you see walking around. I'm fortunate enough to start of with good equipment to work with (dads old road bike, clipless shoes, etc.) I also have access to a great trail to ride on (Santa ana river trail, if anyone here is from so cal) Its 28 miles long and all pretty much flat. i've ridden on it 4 times. the very first time i tried i went five miles. A couple rides later i decided to test myself, so i tried the whole way....I got 22 miles in and my body decided that it was done. my goal for right now is to be able to ride the trail there and back (50+ miles) If anyone could help me with suggestions on training, or anything, it would be greatly appreciated. |

Im in a similar position and looking for advice on what to do and what not too! mainly away from the bike at the moment to improve stamina!
what sort of speeds are you starting at? if you keep it low like 15mph then i can be reaching 30-40 miles before the light fades here! and how long are you warming up for before you push hard? a few things i've concentrated on to avoid burning out too soon! |
