i have been away from riding for many years. i had been running a lot. recently my son won a bike in a contest ( a modern clone of the original schwinn stingray.) i decided to get back into riding. i purchased a road bike (name withheld so the bike snobs won't laugh). made a few mods. a started riding about a month ago. monday through friday i ride 9 to 12 miles. saturday around 20 miles. sunday off. my goal is to ride the a local race/rec ride (seattle to portland - 200 miles) next year.
yesterday i rode 34 miles in two hours (just read the post about "i just don't believe it. to clarify... the 34 miles was flat not a single hill to be found). i'm thinking... not bad for a 50 year old guy that hasn't ridden in years.... it feels good to be back in the saddle. be, jim Last edited by jiminos : 13-08.-2007 at 03:52 AM. |

After that I am looking forward to the "I feel at one with the bike" sensation. I love it when that happens. Nice work Jim, keep at it. |

Stump wound still not quite healed, so a little way to go there before I can get prosthetic fitted. But all going the right direction at the moment. |

I ride with and race against a lot 50+ guys. They are all strong and one of the local guys is 65 and although he doesnt have the power of the 50 and 40 year olds, he rides smart and hangs no problem on hilly 70 mile rides. Your new beginning is no problem starting at 50 thats for sure.
Congrats on being back. I just got back in last July and I too am loving being back, now just over a year.
