Hi folks, new to this forum but not new to cycling. I'm in the market for a new road bike and have noticed the Trek Madone SL 5.2 on sale for $2000 (marked down from $3300) on a number of internet sites and at a couple shops in my area. I understand that Trek is introducing a completely new Madone bike for 08 and that would explain the mark down, but $1300 seems a little to good to be true. Are there issues with this bike that I should be aware of or is this just the deal of the summer?

Great bike. Can't beat the price. However, less then two week ownership and a little over 200 miles and I had my first flat. The spare innertube that the shop sold me had a hole in it so I walked back home in my brand new clipless shoes. (2 miles) The shoes were less then a week old so I wasn't to happy. PO'd enough to buy two Bontrager Hardcase tires right away. Hopefully the Kevlar lining will give me a little peace of mind on the longer rides.
Other then that I love the bike. Cutting a lot of time off of all my routes. |

The 5.2 sl is a fantastic bike. Ultegra equiped right? My only problem with Trek and Lemond stuff is all the bontregger stuff. I had a heck of a time with their race lite wheels a few years ago.

Great Bike I have a 2006, and I can't say I have any fault with it. I think you got a great deal on it also. Happy riding!
