Default 1 st Tour no problems @all!!!!

Hi there just done my 1st tour to France for 4 weeks and had a ball. After coming from Australia the flight was a killer, but the rest was a awesome.Cycled around Paris/Essonne/Fontainbleau 1st week. Then of the the south Provence 2nd week, then Languadec 3rd,Tarn 4th.The higlight was Provence the little towns was great and Fontain-de-Vaclouse,Gordes the LBR bike route to Manosque unreal.

The French are great towards cyclists,Aussie drivers would never move of the road for cyclists!!.And the country is so set up for cyclists, bike lanes tow paths ets.Had hassles with TGV trains sratched my new Cannondale but overall it was worth it.Allready planning my next tour to New Zealand for 3 weeks in Febuary, any one got any ideas?

Great to hear that you had a good time. Any chance of putting your route on bikely.com so we can see what route you used?
Sounds like you covered some similar ground to us especially through the provence area.
We also are looking at NZ for a couple of weeks early next year. Last time we went we started in Christchurch - Queenstown back to Cromwell and across to Dunedin via the Otago Rail trail. We hired a car from there but did some more cycling around Akaroa and Picton - Nelson. This time we will look at doning the West coast or possibly the North Island.

Cheers

Geoff

The trip across the north of NZ south island from Picton across to Golden Bay is pretty amazing, especially with detours onto some of the tramping tracks like Queen Charlotte and Able Tasman. They allow MTBs on some parts of both tracks these days. They'll even drop you and your bike off by boat and pick you up again. Takaka Hill is a real achievement -- an amazing 15km climb just past Motueka.

I flew in to Christchurch and took the train up to Picton (where the ferry goes across to the north island) then headed west.

The ride down the west coast is totally awesome but a trifle damp when I was there.
