Default Practice Hill in Perth

Newbie based in Perth (Subiaco). Have been doing mainly flat work to get used to my bike and cycling, but now need to involve some hills.

Anyone from Perth give me advise on some good hills I can aim for from Subiaco area.

Any advice appreciated.

Kings Park - you can enter from Thomas street or Hay street, about 2k from downtown Subi. It has a long steady hill (North outside road), a slightly shorter steady hill (middle road) and a short sharp hill (South outside road). You can ride all kinds of figure 8's and curcuits in there. Traffic mid-week is usually light. Weekends can be a little crowded with picnicers.

Also bold park to your west - a lap there can take you up reabold hill. One of the best climbs in the western suburbs.

Kings Park is a good choice. Or... you could do 20K E from Subi and go Welshpool Rd. up to Kalamunda. That will be a bit more challenging that Kings Park.

Short ride from there to Reabold Hill - even just riding up and down Cambridge Street to the beach and back would hit a few hills on the way.

A very kind person has put up this route at Bikely.com and called it "Hills of the Western Suburbs". It might suit you.

Thanks everyone - good input and I am close to most. Might leave the Welshpool Rd option for a while!!!
