ok ill clarify - im a journo student with the chance to interview a protour rider and though instead of the usual stuff journos ask why not find out what every really wants to know, unfortunatly doping is a touchy subject and as im really just starting out i dont want to tread on any1's toes - so other than doping does any1 have anythting they would really like to know? i will try for an answer to ur question becuase people are obviously very interested in it but i wud rather the interview be based around other topics for the most part.
cheers dave |

Picture grey / black skies, picture horizontal vicious rain, picture Belgium in Springtime for the Classics in fact. Even though it can obviously be glamorous on the good days, is it worth the bad days? |

I can't possibly imagine a protour cyclist having anything to say that I'd consider worthwhile.
Sadly, most professional athletes are necessarily shallow monomaniacs with huge egos, focussed on doing one thing very very well... that, in the wider scheme of life, the universe and everything, is pretty meaningless. There are more important things in life. Actually, maybe that might be interesting. What do they think is the ultimate worth of what they do? What would they say to people like me who think that while what they do is an entertaining distraction, it is ultimately meaningless? And if you get a blank look and "Wha...?" in response to those, you could always ask them to tell you their favourite brand of Belgian toothpaste. Hrrrm. Sometimes I think too much. ![]() |

It would be nice to know what a typical week for a pro is like....what they eat & how much, when and how they train & how much.....sleep....etc, then you could say... 'I know you don't dope...but could you explain how it's done?'

I think you'll find this is not the case. Visit Weight Weenies and speak with Zakeen (he rides with T-Mobile). He's a really nice guy. |

In your training, do you simply ride for a number of hours or do you do things like intervals, hills, etc?
Do you tailor your workouts to work specifically on weaknesses (say, to get more power, work on time trialing or climbing, etc) or do you work more to your strengths? How much control over your own training do you have? Is it set for you by the DS? What % of the time do you hate your training? Do you ever miss workouts? Do you eat for training or do you eat pretty much anything you like? |
