DESPERATLY trying to find someone who has suffered and GOT BETTER and that rides a bike, ive determination now!loss of weight = loss of power (46kg 51 6" female) and its time to get better,YET with the training (which i confess is a bit of an addiction, and its through a coach)its very hard to gain weight.
how much does one have to increase your diet by to GAIN weight and if i bombard my system with calories will i get used to the intake and balloon,or once up to a proper weight will i stop craving nutrients? coupled with loss of speed and strength i find a low weight = colossal depression so life is a bit naff. i have determination and the goals of the bike achievements,i need to get back up to being my former self! ![]() |

Simple formula for weight loss: expend more calories than you consume.
Simple formula for weight gain: consume more calories than you expend. Heavy on the protein and ice cream!

Yes they have, but my advice is not to try and do this alone. You need people around you who can support and encourage you. I would suggest a few visits to a psychologist specialising in this area (sorry, can't help with that, I'm on the other side of the world). Can you do this on the NHS, or can you afford to go private? Have you discussed this with your coach? A good coach should have strategies to deal with these sorts of issues, since being underweight affects performance and recovery. If your coach is unable to handle this, then you should also consider looking for a new coach. Just remember you are you, not "other cyclists" ..... you don't need to lose weight, so you shouldn't feel guilty that you need to eat lots. |
