First post here. Been cycling for about 3 years now, MTB on road. Nothing serious, just trying to keep the weight down.
Was thinking of cycling to work, 52 mile round trip. I work 12 hour shifts, days and nights. Was thinking of maybe cycling in and back for the first day and again for the last day. Would this be too much do you think or would it be just down to your frame of mind. I just got this bike recently and had road wheels on her when I bought her and I have decreased my time an awful lot. I'd appreciate any feedback, thanks ![]() |

sounds good, how often and how long are you riding now? Is the terrain similar? If it is the same distance or 20-30% more than your current rides you should be okay. Otherwise you can just take easy and reduce your time slowly as you get fitter. Also good nutrition makes a difference if it alot more than you are used to.

Would get out about 3 times a week and would spend just over 2 hours cycling each time. I've clocked the distance in the car to work but I've never got round to clocking the distance on the bike. Have an odometer but it is still on the old bike....suppose I'd want to get my finger out there
I'd hazzard a guess and say that my usual spin is about 20 miles. I'm in Ireland and it's mostly back roads I'd take because they are quieter. I can't get these roads on Gmap to clock the distance. I think I'll give it a trial run on Friday, maybe cycle a little over half way to work and then back. Will keep you posted....thanks |

sounds pretty close just a few extra miles on you usual ride each way. shouldn't be a unrealistic distance to ride. At least you have the work day to recover a bit then ride home. I geuss just make sure you have some fuel in the tank on the way home.
