Default cat upgrade timing?

When does one upgrade from Cat 5 to Cat 4?

once you have done at least 10 cat 5 races.

i am new at the whole road racing i am almost 15 years old and wanted to know how do i even get into a cat such at cat 5

everyone that just has started racing will start in cat 5. you have to do at least 10 cat 5 races and then you will be upgraded to cat 4. then you must earn points by placing in the top 10. you can get your racing license at usacycling.org

do i go for races for juniors in my age group or can i go to cat 5 races
also do you know any races near the LA area
