Default The heart and legs are different!

I have been reading this forums and finding that people here are more interested in training there heart and not the legs!

I have said that doing a hill repeat up 1.6km hill would be good. and people have reacted that it would do very little! But it provides strength in the area of the legs!

If you do to much away from training the legs and too much training the heart you will have some dramas when a race comes along!

Look at it like this! A cross country skiier has a very good resting heart rate, great VO2MAX,etc..... but never ridden a bike let alone done good training for bike riding! So this person will have a better piece of paper then you saying that there VO2MAX,Resting HR,LT is all better then yours. But in a bike race you could beat this person with no drama! because of the muscel strength that you have trained in your legs.

thats why we have races! to see the better athlete!! if you think the better VO2MAX,LT etc.... will always win a race, we wouldnt have races and just have tests done to see the better figures to find the better athlete!

So my advice is, and I know some of you will disagree, train your legs! not only your heart! because if your legs cant do it your heart is not going to help! But thats vice versa also! its all about balance!

I agree. I wonder when I read the threads sometimes if people are pedalling with their hearts or their legs.
