Hi everyone. I'm new here but not new to biking. Just upgraded from *cough*, Huffy "mountain" bike, to a 2003 Specialized Hardrock Comp that was on a clear out sale price and a sweet deal at that. Anyway, the bike is great both on and off road, but I'm noticing the front derailleur kinda sux.
Anyone have suggestions on which derailleur I should upgrade to? I'm fine with all the other stock components. |

Shimano LX should be your best bet and will not cost more than $30 (likely less since you obviously can find a bargain). You should pay around $20 most times. Getting anything of a higher caliber would not be necesary on that particular bike, until you decide to upgrade all around. Have fun.

Cool. Thanks for the advice. Yes I wouldn't have even bothered upgrading anything at all yet, but the front Acera derailleur really sucks bad so I need to change it.
Will probably buy the Shimano LX derailleur at Nashbar.com for 19.95. thanks again. |
