Post Vintage australian bikes wanted

hi, ive recently been fascinated by the older bikes, eg. malvern stars, super elliotts, healings etc. and was wondering if anyone has an old racer that isnt of any use to them if they could let me know.
All this began as my father had a bike behind the shed and upon closer inspection i found that it was a road/track and was later told that they served as a dual purpose bike, rode it on the road and then would turn the rear wheel to ride it on the track.
Id love to hear also from others who have any of these bikes,
Its just so hard to locate these types of bikes as throughout the years im sure they have been tossed out, but would love to hear from anyone
many thanks. Im in adelaide and anything vintage cycling i would be interested in including parts, even if they are rusted
C.

I have a pair of 27x1 1/4 wheels with chrome rims and a Shimano 5 speed Uniglide hub. Pick up, Perth, FREE!!

I just gave away a 50s Malvern Star Ladies Bike, 26x1 38 wheels on that one.

Not quite aussie but i picked up a 1980 Daccordi, steel lugged with Dura ace EX groupset, record hubs on mavic G40s, cinelli bars/stem, suntour post.

Needs a EX/modolo brakeset, dura ace EX braze on downtube shifters and a retro seat to complete..anyone holding any goodies?

Healings was an Australian bike company. The great Russell Mockridge rode for them in the 1950's.

There's a couple of yahoogroups that may interest you, also have you seen the collection at the Canberra Bicycle Museum?

Here's the links to those groups, first up there's Oz Pushies, where Super Healings & Five Star Malvern Stars have been discussed recently. Also there's the Vintage Cycle Club of Victoria organised by Paul and Charlie Farren, although their collection is mostly pre-1900. If you're interested in earlier stuff, here's some photos I took at a open day they had last year.

cheers & hope this helps.

Have an old track frame here, at a guess i'd say its from the 1950's. On the head tube are 2 fern leaves with a W in between. No one has been able to tell me what brand that is. anyone got any ideas?

Ozpushies (as mentioned above) should be able to help you identify the frame.

Pshaw, I am not sure where you are located but I am in Sydney and often get bits and pieces here from retro bikes.

ocoganloc72, sorry I cant help, I have old bikes here but too far away from you. I know there are a few people over your way that sell older bikes on ebay but I would find your local tip/recycling centre and see if they have anything. If you have no luck, let me know as I have a friend over your way and they might be able to tell me of places where there are older bikes as they collect bikes themself so would know whats around.

Karen.
