Thumbs up Touring in Oz

Hi everyone,

Earlier this year I took part in the Bike ‘n Wheels Expedition, a 30 day south-north trans-continent ride. It was amazing! Fully supported, great crew and like minded riders. It was definitely the longest ride I have ever been on, a full month and 2,300 kilometres! It was a great achievement for me as it was for all the other riders, nothing like straddling a continent.

I saw places and experienced Australia like I never thought I would. Leaving the chilly autumn on the coast of South Australia it felt like I was chasing the summer as we headed north. Once in warm tropical Queensland the rainy south became just a memory, until I went back home that is

Does anyone know of any really good long distance rides in Oz or internationally that run annually?

Outbike, the company that runs this ride runs a bunch more. Starting with MTB dirt lover rides to the more boutique kind. I’ve been checking out their new ride for 2007 called ‘The Great Outback, Trains, Pubs ‘n Bones Bike Ride’ and I’m pretty keen. Has anybody ridden through this country before? They have a blog http://thegreatoutbackbikeride.blogspot.com/ and if your interested the website for Outbike is www.outbike.com.au

Cheers
